- What makes the Med Contour so unique?
- The dual patented liposonus cavitation technology! Med Contour goes beyond the standard cavitation on the market. The cavitation phenomenon occurs between ultrasound frequencies of 20-60kHz. In a unique method, the Med Contour delivers a 1MHz frequency modulated between 20-60kHz, thereby achieving the cavitation effect within safe parameters.
Normally, 20-60kHz frequencies produce a ringing noise in the ears of the recipient. By using a carrier frequency of 1MHz, this unpleasant sound is avoided thus creating a more comfortable treatment whilst still achieving excellent results.
By creating the cavitation phenomenon with this delivery method, the machine is up to 50 times more powerful at its deepest setting than its closest competitors!
- How does the treatment actually work?
- The unique patented handpiece uses two angled transmitters to emit ultrasound waves at frequencies modulated between 20-60kHz. The vacuum suction lifts the skin and allows the transmitters to specifically target cellulite and fat. The ultrasound causes the cavitation effect by producing micro bubbles which expand and contract rapidly until the bubbles explode. The explosion damages and ruptures the walls of the fat cells which release their fatty liquids.
- How does my body get rid of the fat following a treatment?
- Once the fatty liquids are released, your vascular and lymphatic systems move them through your body to be processed by the liver. The liver processes this fat through normal metabolic procedures to be removed from your body naturally. The lymphatic drainage handpiece is used to promote faster processing of the fatty liquids through your lymphatic system.
- Why is the Med Contour treatment so popular?
- Med Contour treatments are non-invasive and reduce the treated areas without the need for surgery and/or anesthesia. The treatment does not damage any of the surrounding tissues, nerves or blood vessels making this treatment very safe. This is very appealing to people who do not wish to undergo invasive procedures and is the perfect alternative for people seeking effective reduction of fat deposits without surgery. The additional bonus is that you can go back to your everyday life with no downtime!
- Who can undergo this treatment?
- Most men and women are eligible to undergo this treatment. The treatment however is not a substitute for regular exercise and healthy eating. Med Contour treatments are designed to remove excessive fat and cellulite from localized body regions to help average to overweight men and women acquire an improved body contour and skin texture.
- What body areas can be treated?
- A Med Contour treatment can be performed on any area of the body with the exception of the face and neck. The most popular areas for treatment are the upper and lower abdomen (front and back of the body), flanks/love handles, outer thighs, inner thighs, upper arms (tuckshop arms) and buttocks.
- How long does a treatment take & how many are needed?
- An average treatment will take between 60-90 minutes. Only one treatment area per week is recommended and a follow up lymph drainage session between liposonus treatments is highly recommended to expedite results. The number of Med Contour treatments will vary from person to person and be largely dependent on the size of the person and the desired results. The best results are achieved by completing a series of treatments. We generally recommend a minimum of 4 treatments to achieve the best results, however up to 10 treatments may be required for very large or stubborn areas of fat and cellulite.
- Are there any contra-indications?
- Yes. Med Contour treatments are not recommended for people with active heart disease or vascular disease, pacemakers, thrombosis, patients requiring medical transplants, pregnancy and breast feeding, individuals with metal protheses or any serious illness, or for those who are taking lipid lowering drugs or anticoagulant drugs.
- Is there post-treatment care?
- Following a Med Contour treatment, you can return to your normal daily activities. It is recommended that you get adequate sleep and drink plenty of water in the days following the treatment. Exercise is not necessary but highly desirable to help promote your circulatory and lymphatic systems to remove the toxins released by the treatment. In addition, the following dietary guidelines are highly recommended for 3 days after the treatment:
Reduce/eliminate short chain carbohydrates. There is a risk that if the body is fed short chain carbs too quickly, the fat released during treatment may be re-deposited in the body whilst the body deals with the current influx of fats.
Short chain carbs include the following categories:
- Monosaccharides - glucose (dextrose, fructose, galactose) found in honey, beverages, fruits, confectionery, milk.
- Disaccharides - sucrose (beet sugar, raw sugar), maltose (malt sugar), lactose (milk sugar), found in sugar, jam, candy, soft drinks, malted beverages (beer).
- Are the results permanent?
- Yes - so long as you maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, the results should be long-lasting. A diet and lifestyle of poor food choices and indulgence will lead to further weight gain.
